15th Anniversary Getaway -- Ryukyu Mura's Michi Junee Show

This show is basically the closing celebration of the day with short performances by most of the groups that had their own show during the day.
As always-- live music and singing!!

Miruku begins the show by waving his fan to bless to the people.

The "mamidoma" is a folk dance to celebrate the harvest.

And we got to join in!!! (Rodney stayed put to take pics :)

Then enters the "Sanji"...
the King, Queen, and high government officials.

The karate demonstration was fascinating!
According to the broken English on the brochure, Chinese "kung-fu" fused together with Okinawan "tee" made karate.....??

As the others, the "Shishimai" bowed to respect the king and queen before beginning their performance.

He makes his way around the crowd allowing the children to pet him, then gets ready for a friendly game of catch with the "Wakuya."

A lucky child from the audience gets to play catch with him, too!!

She made a good toss! (On her second try :)

Then it was time for the really fun part-- the Eisa!!!
Those taiko drummers get quite the workout beating and swinging those drums around all while doing their dance!!

And the dancers are just lovely!!

This little lady had the loudest whistle I've ever heard in my life!! You could hear her over the drums, the chanting, and the clapping!!!

Then it was time for audience participation for the grand finale dance!!!

Now this 'young lady' was adorable!!!
I cannot tell you how long she clapped and danced around with that cute smile on her face and that bottle standing on her head!!!

When the show ended, it was picture time!!
HAI-SAI!!!

P.S.~ I hope this works.... I'm including the links for the Ryukyu Mura brochure. When you read through it, you can see a prime example of what we refer to as "EngRish"!!! Some things just don't quite make the translation!!! Enjoy! ;o)
