I got a kick out of this sign in one of the transit halls!!
This Shinto shrine was built to honor the spirit of Emporer Meiji.
HUGE torii gate at the path entrance leading to the shrine.
I thought these lamp posts were lovely.
Hard to believe we were in the middle of a city!!
These barrels of sake were donated to the shrine.
Pictures of Emperor Meiji's rule posted along the path.
About 175 acres of evergreen forest in the middle of the city!!
At the entrance of the shrine grounds, you may wash here before going to worship.
Entrance to the central sanctuary
The woodwork is beautiful!
Paths cut all through the forest.
"Ema, votive tablets, are offered for 500yen a piece at the booth ahead and to your right."
If you choose to buy a votive tablet, you write your prayer on the tablet and hang it on the display.
Another booth to buy prayer memorials.
Heading out of the sanctuary and back down the forest path.....
...to our last 'tourist' stop of the day---
Shibuya Intersection.
