October, 2009 ~ Rodney has two groups he'd always wanted to see in concert. One was The Monkees, which we were able to see while living in Texas. But, even more than The Monkees, he'd always wanted to see U2. But, he'd never lived anywhere close to where they'd played until now---they were playing at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena!!! So, we got tickets and made a weekend of it in LA......
Our first evening was spent at Santa Monica Pier complete with dinner at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company :)

The building on the left in the picture above houses this lovely carousel.
We learned that Santa Monica Pier is the west end of Route 66!! (For those of you that don't know, our home in SW Missouri is right on Rt. 66, so we thought this was pretty cool!)
