And extra excited to find there is a pressed medallion machine at the monorail station!!! He was just tickled pink to learn they were all over the parks, too :0)
The entry plaza...kind of like Main Street with shops and eateries lining the street.
We happened to be there during the star festival, Tanabata. The festival is based on an old Chinese tale of star-crossed lovers. The tradition is to write your wish on a piece of colorful paper and hang it on a tree or bamboo branch along with other colorful decorations.
We had stopped into one of the visitors' centers the day before and picked up Rodney's birthday sticker. The sweet lady there wrote his name on it in Katakana (Japanese writing). In our concern of losing the sticker, we went into this shop to buy his birthday button. This adorable Disney crew member, presented Rodney with a spare sticker as "a souvenir"!!

We saw Lightning McQueen in California, and now in Tokyo!

Another of our favorite rides has always been Haunted Mansion.
Tokyo Disney was primarily the same as California, but there were some differences. This was one of those---yes, it had pretty much the same story line (best we could tell, since all the spoken parts were in Japanese!), but they had added a bit more straight up haunted house feel to it. Not my favorite.
Pirates of the Caribbean was another story!!
It was as much fun in Japanese as in English :o)
There were popcorn carts all over the park, each having its own character bucket and flavor!
We really liked the curry, but also tried the soy sauce and it was ok. I would like to have tried the white tea and the honey... maybe another time!
Our Disney package included coupons for each of us to have a free Mickey pizza. Not only was it cute, it was quite tasty! It had cheese and little pepperonis and the Japanese traditional topping-- corn!
The Mickey shaped maple churro was delightful!
The saddest part of our day was learning that Space Mountain was closed for maintenance!!!
