Cruise ~ Ensenada/Rosarito

Well, the view pulling into Ensenda was "just a little" different from Cabo!!
But, still just as exciting with our day's adventures ahead!! We caught a bus and headed to Rosarito under the guidance of Mariana!
Our first stop in Rosarito was the FOX Xploration Studios which was built specifically for the filming of the movie, Titanic!! That will be a post (or two) all its own :) Our next stop was the Rosarito Beach Hotel for lunch and some shopping time. Here are a few pics of the gorgeous hotel!!
It had beautiful stainglass windows, wood work and tiles...
....and murals!
And our tasty lunch was made complete with entertainment!!

Cruise ~ Another Fun Day at Sea

You know how on cruises they always leave those cute towel creations on your bed?? Well, during this Fun Day at Sea, one of the items offered was a class to learn how to make them, so we decided to try our hands at Towel Folding!! Turns out our dinner table mates had thought it sounded fun, too!!
We had so much fun making our cute dogs, that Rodney worked on a couple of other creations...
Here are the visitors we found on our bed each night....
Monday's seal
Tuesday's dog
Wednesday's elephant
Thursday's turkey
Friday's bunny
After our class, we spent some time playing on the ship, then decided to enjoy the view from a deck chair....
Sad thing was---it was really a pretty cool, breezy day, but Rodney didn't let that stop him from being out on deck!!
Take notice of where the sun is hitting his skin? He had some interesting sun lines that evening!!
But, it was another enjoyable leisure day at sea :)

Cruise ~ Cabo San Lucas

Our picture right off the ship into Cabo....

It was so hard to decide which pictures to post, because I took so many, but I believe these are a handful of my favorites that will give you a little bit of idea of what our port visit was like.

Here are just some of the gorgeous sights as we pulled into port.....

Our excursion for this port-stop was snorkeling. Which was quite an adventure in that rough water!! But, the getting there was quite enjoyable!! We got to ride a catamaran....
On the way to our snorkeling sight, they took us to see some of the sights a little closer.....like Lovers Beach.
Our snorkeling adventure was quite that!! And included me literally being rolled up on the shore by the waves! And let me tell you, their sand is not what I was expecting--it was just crunched up shells!! So, it was somewhat a painful experience. But, thankfully, no lasting marks :)
Anyway, after our catamaran ride back to our starting point, we meandered around Cabo.
We stopped at Sammy Haggar's "Cabo Wabo" to enjoy some fish tacos!
And since Rodney is "addicted" to Hard Rock Cafe pins, we popped in there to add to his collection.
Then it was time to catch the boat taxi back to the ship....
It was time to clean up and relax before another wonderful evening with a delicious dinner, a show, and a little dancing!

Cruise ~ A Fun Day at Sea / Gala Buffet

The first day of our cruise was spent at sea. So, we entertained ourselves with a bit of putt-putt, exploring the ship, and of course lounging on the deck! We also took the time to witness the "Hairy Chest" Contest..... OH MY!! The guy that won could have been nicknamed "Chewy"! Yes, as in Chewbacca!!! His hairy chest draped up and over his shoulders and down his back!!! I just couldn't even "bear" to take a picture!!!! ;-}
Anyway, we did have a very nice relaxing day. Then a big evening!!
It was a dress-up night which was kicked off with the Captain's cocktail party.....
At dinner they celebrated all birthdays and anniversaries. So we were given a special anniversary dessert which was, of course and like all the food on the ship, to die for!!!!
After the evening show, was the Gala Buffet.....
...which consisted of TOTALLY edible masterpieces!!
I've made the following pictures smaller to be able to post so many, but I believe if you click on the picture, it will bring it up larger.
A mound of spun sugar on the left....
And I believe these are my favorites....
Look! Flying squash with carrot beaks!!
(L) Would it be cheesy fish? Or fishy cheese?
(R) And what a beautiful vegetable bouquet!!
And lovely spun sugar flowers......
It was all absolutely amazing!! But we just came for the visit; we didn't come back at midnight to partake....

Anniversary Cruise

May, 2008 ~ Our first and biggest adventure of 2008 was our Cruise out of San Diego aboard Carnival Elation to Cabo San Lucas in celebration of our 11th Anniversary!!
We took a little time to explore the ship before we pulled out of port.....
I'm sitting at the edge of one of the pools, which we did get in once. The problem was the water was so cold since it was Pacific Ocean water!!
The San Diego skyline peeking out over the lido deck....
The Bay Bridge in the background....
Rodney looking off at downtown SD and the Maritime Museum...
In our stateroom Rodney showed me how to be safe at sea!
A couple of sea lions were there to see us off and wish us Bon Voyage!
As I'm sure you've noticed, it wasn't exactly all sunny in SoCal that day. We were experiencing a typical "May Gray" day. But as we were sliding out of the bay, the view toward Pt. Loma gave us sunny hopes for the next few days!!
